When you feel overwhelmed with life’s trials, slow down, take a deep breath, and ask one question.

When I started my business in 2003, I was convinced my clients needed lots of information.
As a result, my advice typically included lots of multi-tabbed spreadsheets, PPT presentations, and long emails demonstrating how much I knew and how complex the solution needed to be.
It soon became clear that was the wrong approach.
While they might have been initially impressed with the reams of data, it rarely led to what they really wanted – improved results.
The same is true for just about every challenge in life.
We chase the complex solution assuming that nothing simple could be the best answer.
Yet, time and time again, we’re reminded of the brilliance of Occam’s Razor – “If you have 2 competing ideas, you should prefer the simpler one.”
When you feel overwhelmed with life’s trials, slow down, take a deep breath, and ask – What’s the next best step I can make in this moment to move in the right direction?
