Remember when Lucy and Ethel try to wrap chocolates?
No matter your age, you’ve likely seen the famous Lucille Ball episode (Season 2, Episode 1) where she and Ethel struggle to wrap chocolates fast enough to keep up with the conveyor belt.
There was a time when speed and effort were enough to separate us from our peers. Years ago, working faster and longer hours were the most important elements in growing your career.
That time has come and gone.
Today, we’re rewarded for the value we produce which may not always require the most effort.
Keep this in mind the next time you’re tempted to tell your boss, client, coworkers, employees how many hours you worked.
As my grandfather used you tell me, “I don’t care how hard it was to do, I just want to know that it got done.”
