Ever find yourself asking this question on vacation?
<>
This past weekend, I was on a trip with my family. More times than I’d like to admit, I found myself looking to the future and asking, “what’s next?”
Like most overachievers, I struggle to live in the moment because, at some level, I view my current activity as something to be accomplished and checked off the list so I can move on to something else.
This is no way to live.
Life is a journey to be savored slowly. It’s not a competition to see who can get the most done.
Before you start beating yourself up for not “mastering” the art of living in the moment, remember, your goal is improvement, not perfection.
As for me, I’m getting a little better every day.
At the San Diego Zoo, I noticed my pull to the future and declared (quietly, in my head, I’m not that crazy) “Just enjoy the gorilla sticking his butt up against the glass.”
Carpe diem my friends.
