The future is filled with endless opportunities: vacations, weddings, new cars, etc.
Unfortunately, it also has its share of crap: long work meetings, pain, anxiety, etc.
We aim to fill the future with more good than bad to have something to look forward to.
The problem with this approach is that our brains tend to underestimate the happiness we’ll get from the opportunities and exaggerate the frustration we’ll get from the crap.
So, unless you’ve got non-stop, all-inclusive vacations on the horizon, consider a different approach.
Focus on what really matters – this moment.
Accept the experience your journey is currently delivering and recognize that it’s temporary.
