For overachievers, releasing the need for perfection is a constant work in progress.

I’m in the middle of a short online course called The Anatomy of Gratefulness (which I highly recommend) and recently completed a section on the topic of imperfection.
This (imperfection) is one of those concepts that I assumed I fully understood and had come to terms with.
It turns out that I haven’t.
Deep down, I’m a perfectionist, always finding fault in the little things in life that aren’t going exactly as planned.
And even though I get the idea that flaws are part of life, I dislike them a lot more than I once thought.
I’m learning that it’s not just enough to accept your faults – that feels almost defeatist.
Instead, we need to celebrate the parts of our lives that don’t live up to our ideals.
For me, this includes a bathroom project that I left mid-completion, a non-profit that didn’t quite get off the ground, and a wardrobe that includes far too much plaid.
How about you?
It’s time to embrace the inevitable flaws that show up in our journey.
