As I type this message with one hand, I’m reminded of a powerful quote often attributed to John Lennon:
“Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.”
One week ago, as I was riding through a cross walk, a car sped out in front of me trying to jam their way into oncoming traffic.
The good news – I walked away from the accident.
Unfortunately, I now need surgery on my left hand.
Lying in the emergency room, I moaned (seriously, I can be a little dramatic) that the driver’s apology wasn’t enough… he’s a complete idiot who should have his license revoked!
The truth is, he made the mistake we all do hundreds of times a day – allowing our attention to drift into the future (or past) instead of staying focused on the present.
Slow down.
Life’s a journey to be enjoyed, not a race to be won.
