How do you know you’re making the right decision? Before you tie yourself in a knot, remember this.
CJ McClanahan
Between now and the end of 2024, you will make thousands of decisions.
Some of them will be inconsequential (medium vs. large, window up vs. down, etc.), while others may have life-altering ramifications (should I propose, sell my business, etc.).
Despite the importance/size/relevance of each one, these choices are all driven by the same desire… control. Our goal with every decision is to maximize the likelihood of an outcome we desire.
And… there’s nothing wrong with that.
The problem comes when we expect that our efforts should guarantee a result.
The truth is that no matter what you do, life is unpredictable.
For overachievers, this lack of certainty is maddening.
But (as someone who once believed illness could be eliminated with enough hand sanitizer) I can assure you that there are times in life when you simply need to let go.
