Nothing has the power to give you more joy than giving in a meaningful way. So, what’s “meaningful”?
<>
It’s different for everyone.
Even so, the level of commitment required to enjoy the full benefits of generous living has a handful of similar characteristics:
- Sacrifice. The commitment you make must be significant enough for you to feel it. (If you made $900k last year, a $150 donation is unlikely to move the needle – nor will volunteering at a soup kitchen once a year for 2 hours.)
- Time. Although writing a check is helpful, you’ve got to get involved in the organization to see the positive impact they’re making in the community.
- One Year Plus. This isn’t a quick engagement. Like anything important in life, it takes time. Prepare to spend at least 1 year involved with this organization in some capacity.
Living generously really does deliver results – for you and your community. Give it time. And, if you get stuck, check out Generosity First. It’s full of resources and a process to help get you started.
Thanks for letting me be a part of your journey!
