The New Year is a special time for the hard charging overachiever.
Crafting our 2023 vision/goals/objectives allows us to explore the unlimited potential of the next 12 months.
We love documenting the lofty achievements that will ensure 2023 is a big success.
Unfortunately, these accomplishments rarely deliver what we genuinely crave – a sense of satisfaction and joy. Why? Because the overachiever is never happy.
If we fall short, the year was a failure. If we surpassed our objectives, we didn’t dream big enough.
The problem has nothing to do with the process or the goals we set.
The issue has to do with how we define success.
This year, in addition to setting lofty objectives (there’s nothing wrong with growth), I’d challenge us all to embrace the process and find more joy in the journey – regardless of the outcomes.
