Overachievers are taught early to “grade” situations as either good or bad. Here’s the problem with labeling impermanence.
<>
We (humans) tend to label things in life.
Our boss is a “jerk”, clients are “difficult”, or life is “hard”.
The problem with labels is that we often give a permanent description to something that is temporary.
This approach can be especially challenging when we apply labels to ourselves.
You might lose a big deal at work and consider yourself a professional failure, or struggle with a child and assume you’re a terrible parent.
Remember that we’re all a combination of setbacks and triumphs… none of which should be affixed to us permanently.
You’re never as good or as bad as you feel in a moment.
Take a breath and keep pressing toward a slightly better version of yourself.
