Focus on Progress

Overachievers love the new year because it’s an opportunity to become a “new” person. I have yet to see that actually happen. Here’s what to try instead.

Most people look at the new year and expect to become “new” people.

We want to lose all the excess weight, right the broken relationships, find a new career, and eliminate all debt within the next 365 days.

Unfortunately, if we stumble out of the gate, we feel like a failure and give up hope of ever improving our situation.

Instead of aiming for a miracle in 2026, I challenge all of us to instead focus on progress.

As you embark on a new year, challenge yourself with this simple question:

What 2 minor improvements (1 personal and 1 professional) would make a big difference over the course of the next 12 months?
