3 Tactics to Dispel Dissatisfaction

Overachievers have taught themselves the wrong formula for what we actually crave…

<>

I have a theory.

There is a direct correlation between the joy you experience and the amount of effort you commit to developing a grateful outlook.

If you work hard to see the blessings (food in the fridge, heat in the car, etc.) in your everyday life, your everyday life will bend towards happiness.

If, instead, you allow your perspective to be consumed by little frustrations (clouds in the sky, a busy schedule, etc.), your mood will be consistently dreary.

My theory isn’t original, nor is it likely to surprise anyone. Most people understand the importance of gratitude.

Unfortunately, as Stephen Covey pointed out, “To know and not to do, is really not to know.”

Here are 3 simple strategies to help you develop a more grateful outlook and move from the “knowing” to the “doing”.

  1. Give a portion of your resources to those in need.
  2. Send a handwritten note at least once a month, letting someone know that you appreciate the difference they’ve made in your life.
  3. Find one blessing by paying close attention to your surroundings every day.
