You walk into Starbucks and there are 3 people in front of you (likely a 3–5-minute wait). What do you do?
I’ve asked this question many times over the years and the answer is always the same – “Pull out my phone.”
We’re so dependent on constant stimulation that we can’t imagine going a few minutes without scrolling through our email, text, or social feeds.
This addiction to endless updates has convinced our brains that every moment needs to be filled with something.
Our inability to sit quietly with our thoughts keeps us from enjoying the present moment, eventually leading to stress, worry, and frustration.
This week, do something a little crazy.
Look for opportunities to embrace silence.
