4 Ways to Practice Presence

Stop chasing happiness. Start practicing presence.

Making the shift from chasing happiness toward embracing presence doesn’t mean we stop setting goals or striving for success. 

Rather, it means we do so with a different mindset — one that prioritizes the experience over the outcome. 

It’s about finding joy in the process, in the act of living, rather than pinning our hopes on a future state of happiness.

So, how do we make this shift? 

Start by turning your mind toward mindfulness every day. Here are a few ways: 

  • Breathe deeply. Just three full breaths between meetings will be a game-changer. 
  • Observe your surroundings, and tune into your thoughts and feelings. Name them. Then let them go. 
  • Practice gratitude for the present moment. 
  • Gently remind yourself that life is happening now, not later.
